SORRY, YOU MISSED ONE OF THE NICEST STREET ROD'S OUT THERE- SOLD TO GREENWICH, CT.

1936 Ford Deluxe Model 68 3-Window 'Retro Rod' Coupe

We generally only offer one Street Rod or Retro Rod at a time. Twenty-one years of experience surveying a boat-load of 'backyard builds', has taught us to buy only Conservative, Professionally built versions as they are the most difficult and rewarding to find. This car stands out as The Best One we have ever found & purchased. It was Custom Made for a wealthy 'Sprits' Manufacturer in the Palm Beaches. It is an original real  (all) Steel Frame and Body 1936 Ford in the seldom seen 3-Window version instead of the 5-Window. Ford Motor Co. only produced 21,446 of these out of total production of 791,812  sales units  that year and with Seventy-Five Years under the belt- there aren't many left! . The Deluxe Model originally featured the Chrome Brightwork around the headlights, Grille, Windshield, Horn Grilles and Tail-Lights. They also originally featured received : Dual 'toothpick' Wipers, Wheel Trim Rings, Clock and a Rearview Mirror.... giving "loaded" new meaning (ha-ha).

This 'Retro Version' was a three-year build and has been upgraded, not once but twice, FINE-TUNED to the owners spec's with the Best of the Best. It was a true Body-off Restoration with Full Body-dip and Rotisserie Restoration that cost $99,183.58 ( all actual receipts, not a handwritten legal pad version- in house). Finished in Mason's Black with Saddle Interior. It received  a new Chevrolet Factory crate engine, 'built', balanced and blueprinted by the 'Engine Factory'. It is rated at 455h.p. due to the Roller Camshaft and other Performance Improvements. The 8" rear was installed and built by 'Jaws Gear & Axle' as a Detroit Tru-Track 3:55. The entire muffler system is Stainless Steel. Disappointed with the Taiwan/Chinese quality of original grilles offered, the Grille was custom fabricated by 'Starks Metal Art' ($3575), 'Bob Drake' supplied much of the chrome trim except the Garnish moldings by 'Doug Born'. This entire restoration was accomplished by Terry Pagage at 'T's Garage' and by Joe Mallazo / 'Auto Shoppe' in South Fla. Some of the work accomplished in an overview is: The 'Bilstein Shocks' have been upgraded by 'Racing Dynamics' and the Custom Stereo w/ 4 Boston Acoustic Speakers and 6-CD Changer was accomplished by 'World of Sound'. The Soft Touch Leather Upholstery / Headliner and Trunk (Full Custom) was done by 'Vantasma' in Palm Beach.  The Bumpers, Brackets and Gas Tank are all Stainless Steel. 'Ron Frances' did the Deluxe Wire kit, 'Vintage A.C.' built the Air Conditioning System, the dash is complimented by a 'La Carrera' Steering Wheel and 'Ididit' Steering Column and Column Drop. This build carries Adjustable Lower Blocks, 'Specialty Wiper System' and a Custom Made Stone deflector. Headers are by 'Hi-Temp', Alternator Chrome 105AMD and the AC Compressor is a Chrome Upgrade with Hidden-Firewall Mount, chrome shield framed. The Windows 'look' to be original crank-style but, they are Power, the Heated-Porsche-Style seats have Auto. Lumbar Controls, MSD built the Electronic Ignition while 'HotTronics supplied all switches. This car carries 11" front Rotor's and Disc brakes, 'Accel' Plug Wires w/ Platinum Spark Plugs. All the AC Vents are Polished Aluminum while the clock was replaced with an Extra vent to keeps things cool here in sultry FL. The Body was dipped and stripped at great expenses and finished in Base Coat/ Clear Coat. There's really too much to list as this car was continually improved and updated  to have it drive 'new'. If you're looking to side-step the hideous back-breaking restoration process and go directly to the finish-line a Winner- you just found the way

Priced to sell at $85,500 FIRM - "SOLD"

THE STORY:

The Good Humoured Mood for 1936 might be best summarized by W.C. Fields. He said of Charlie Chaplin:  "The Son of a Bitch is a ballet dancer....He's the Best ballet dancer that ever lived and if I get a good chance, I'll Kill Him with my bare hands" ( Chaplin was later 'knighted' by Queen Elizabeth) .  The Year 1936 was accented with Good Times, Crazy Inventions and Historical events. The First Photo-Finish camera's were installed at Horse Races, Tampon's were developed by Tampax Inc, The Last Pharaoh of Egypt, who was notorious for his gambling, uninhibited partying ascended the throne at the mere age of 16 was later overthrown by Nasser in 1952, Trampoline's were invented, while Carl Sandberg ( famous Pulitzer Prize winning Author) said of the Great Depression "......the people so peculiar in renewal and comeback will live on", the First Waring Blender was invented while Margaret Mitchell would write "Gone With The Wind" and sell 1.4 million copies the first year, Charlie Chaplin would write, produce, score, direct and star in the Last Silent Film called "Modern Times". Amelia Earhart?.... Nope, Beryl Markham became the First Person to FLY SOLO across the Atlantic Ocean East to West from Abington, England to a land (?) in a bog on Cape Breton Island, in Nova Scotia (Earhart's fatal flight was 7/2/37). "The People's Car" (Volkswagen) was introduced in Feb. 1936 under the direction of Hitler, designed by Ferdinand Porsche. It was Hitler's answer to Henry Ford's Model T.  Japan would invade China on July 7th implementing one of the most horrific terrorist campaigns in modern warfare. For two months they killed and raped 7,000 women, hundreds of thousands of unarmed troops and civilians, burning 1/3 of the homes in Nanjiing. On a lighter note:  The Duke of Windsor proclaimed 'no regrets' when he gave up the throne to the British Empire (Great Britain, Ireland, British Dominion Islands and Emperor of India) to marry Wallis Warfield Simpson, a twice divorced American, on Dec. 11, 1936. The First Baseball Hall of Fame was created this year.  Ursula Andress , Carol Burnett, Wilt Chamberlain, Jim Henson (puppeteer), Burt Reynolds, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman (both musician's with The 'Rolling Stones" ) would all be born that year.
