THE STORY
:
After 22 + years in the business we always get a chuckle when someone walks in with an 'attitude' demanding to see only "cars that are documented". If we're lucky that month, we may have 4-5 (out of 30). Some folks ASSUME that all Classic Cars come with "doc's". They seldom do. But, this beautiful Mustang GT Convertible is one of those Treasured Cars. It carries the original Dealer Car Invoice, Owner Window Sticker, Ford / Mercury Passenger Car Warranty Booklet, Owners Manual, Warranty Fact Booklet, Buyers Retail Order, Original Certificate of Ownership, Original Sales Brochure, Ford Owner Card (sometimes called the Protect-o-Plate by G.M. car owners), it's 1st Dealer Recall Letter (pivot pin for the seat bracket) and even personal notes from the Original Owner. This car was purchased new by Bernhard J Kress for his loving wife Emily M Kress of Cottage Cove / Hewitt, N.J. on Jan. 15 1969 and delivered Feb. 6, 1969. Bernie must have used his best bargaining efforts to get a $511.27 discount (13%) off the list price of $3937.47, as he "paid cash". He walked out the door, with his wife "Emily" listed as the proud owner, on (1) new 1969 Mustang GT title. The story goes that Emily was 'well endowed' so, their search was narrowed down to a car that allowed her enough room to get behind the steering wheel (hence the "Tilt-A-Way" steering Wheel option). Emily only used the car during the Summer, always kept it in her garage and drove on local runs. How do we know this?? She actually drafted a letter to her Insurance Company asking for a discount on the rates and left it in the Manual. She wrote;
" Dear Sir; My car is my prize possession...I drive it myself and keep it in the garage at all times. It is taken out in nice weather and garage-kept all Winter because of it's original condition. I drive it around West Milford to my Community Meetings, Church, ... 'errands' (crossed out)... etc. Transportation is done by our two other cars"
The second owner was nearly as 'attached'
to this great car. His love for this automobile was
admirable. In fact, It took us over two years to pry this one away as well.
Maybe you can be lucky enough to be listed as owner #3.
