Our business is our dream.....

THE MT. DORA MUSEUM OF SPEED & CLASSIC CAR DEALERSHIP.......

We built the all new Mount Dora Museum of Speed , so we could share our hobby and a lifetime of antique collecting with the General Public... opening for business in Mt. Dora mid-August 2001. Since we travel often to buy cars PLEASE, it's always best to call in advance to clear the hours. If you've never been to Mount Dora, get out your Future Events Calendar....the town is a must see. A mandatory visit while near Orlando, it's the home base for the "Doodlebug" Locomotive & Dining Car, "Antique Extravaganza Show(s)", "Wooden Boat Show in Tavares" on Lake Dora, Ice House Theater, "Bicycle Festival", "Christmas Parade & Walk", "Art Festival", "Spring Festival of Music" various Antique Car Shows, and "Crafts Fair"....it's listed Nationally in several magazine's as "One of The Five Best Places to Retire." The year long Special Events calendar garnishes a major turnout (almost a quarter million visitors per year), so Dora's not your typical 'small potato' Central Florida town. Flower-laden Mount Dora is just 43 minutes N.W. of Orlando Airport. Many view it as the East Coast's version of Carmel, California or a sleepy New England Village. It not only offers the highest elevation in the State of Florida (whoa, 184 ft. above sea level) but, visiting it is like taking a trip in a time machine back to 1950. A vintage community loaded with over 90 antique shops / malls, fine dining, Century old Architecture, beautiful Inns / Bed & Breakfasts', 26 churches and some genuinely nice people....all this while residing in a picture perfect community. It's surrounded by 1001 Fresh Water Lakes and large Oak trees, laden with Spanish moss and cooler temperatures than Florida's normal.

It was a romantic 'getaway' from the rigors of Palm Beach County, for my wife and I, for six years prior to moving here. We decided it was the perfect place to 'semi-retire' and open a Car Museum , after an article appeared in Money magazine rating it as One of the Top Five Places To Retire. It occurred to us that there was plenty of entertainment in town for the ladies but, nothing for the guys to do, except eat....so,with it's close proximity to the Orlando Airport, it was the perfect venue for a Car Museum. We designed the building in the 1940's style of Art Deco and decided to share our lifetime collection with everyone who chose to come in. It is located on the corridor to the historical district ( 206 North Highland Street ), designed as basically Hurricane Proof, with cantered 26 foot ceilings so, we could hang all the art work.
